The Panfil Family Band

The Panfil Family Band is a versatile group of seasoned musicians who play in and lead several different bands in Western New York and on special occasions come together to make up a very special family band. The Panfil Family Band (PFB) plays as a full instrumentation Bluegrass band or a full on Classic Country Band doing the Willie Nelson Experience Band. The PFB has played at the Wind Gap Bluegrass Festival, The Historic Gowanda Hollywood Theater, The West Falls Center For the Arts, The Appleumpkin Festival and countless roadside taverns in Western New York.

Mark and Chris Panfil

The Panfil Family Band a family that have been making Bluegrass music in Western New York for over 25 years. The band was started by two Buffalo Music Hall of Fame inductees, Chris (guitar, mandolin and fiddle) and Mark Panfil (banjo, dobro and keyboards). The brothers started out playing in the Erie Lackawanna Railroad Bluegrass Band in 1975 and since then they have moved though some of the most influential bands in the Buffalo area including The J.C. Thompson Band, Quarter horse, Sportsmen’s tavern’s Classic Country Lunch band and the Bluegrass All Stars. When they are not performing with the Panfil Family band, they are playing with Creek Bend and Emerald Isle (Celtic music).

Katie Panfil/Clark

In 2000, Mark’s daughter, Katie (fiddle) and his son, Scott (bass) joined Mark to make the first Family band to tour Ireland, Scotland and England. When Katie married Jayson Clark (banjo, bass and drums), the band grew. Within the last 8 years, Chris’s daughter, Jude Panfil (mandolin) joined the band.

Scott is a founding member of the classic Rock band, Breakaway and also the Freddie Mercury voice in the Queen City Tribute Band.

Katie plays and records with Uncle Ben’s Remedy and along with her husband, Jayson and brother, Scott make up the Celtic trio, Almost Seamus.

Jude plays mandolin and writes original material for the Rochester Bluegrass Band, The Crooked North.
